At the Beverly Hills Institute of Dental Esthetics, Dr. LeSage focuses on preventing periodontal disease. But if you’re already affected by it, you will receive comprehensive care that usually begins with conservative treatment.
Preventive Care
Rather than resolve issues as they arise, Dr. LeSage and his team help patients develop and maintain good oral health for a lifetime. We advise, inform, educate, motivate, and inspire you to take an active role in preventive care. If your goal is to have premium dental health, we will help you achieve it.
Non-Surgical Therapy
For decades, Dr. LeSage has used a soft-tissue management program with non-surgical techniques for improving and eliminating gum (early stages) and periodontal disease. If left untreated, these bacterial infections can lead to bone loss or tooth loss. We customize a soft-tissue management program for you based on the condition of your gums. Treatment can include:
- Scaling and root planing (deep cleanings)
- Oral hygiene instructions for at-home care
- A culture of the bacteria to prescribe bacterial-specific antibiotics
- Sub-gingival irrigation
- Re-evaluation
For most patients, this program eliminates the need for periodontal (gum) surgery. In advanced stages of periodontal disease, our team periodontist (specialist in diagnosing and treating gum disease) will closely monitor your condition to prevent it from escalating.
Surgical Therapy
After non-surgical periodontal therapy, a few patients still need surgery to restore their oral health. Our periodontist’s philosophy is to preserve and regenerate gum tissue. If your periodontal disease has resulted in bone loss, surgical procedures utilize bone morphogenic protein—artificial bone from multiple sources and membranes to stimulate new bone and gum tissue.
Gum Lift or Crown Lengthening
For more than 30 years, Dr. LeSage has performed these procedures for patients who require a single gum lift or crown lengthening. The technique establishes harmony and balances the amount of gum tissue around teeth to give you an appealing smile.
