How Much Do Implant Overdentures Cost?
The cost of implant overdentures can range between $3,000 and $50,000 depending on several factors, including:
- Your individual needs
- The number of implants you receive
- Quality of implant components
- Whether you require bone grafting or other procedures to prepare your gums and bone for implants
- Denture quality
- Your dentist’s and oral surgeon’s fees
- Dental fees in your dentist’s and oral surgeon’s location (city and state)
After a 3-D CT scan and reviewing your medical and dental histories, a dentist and oral surgeon will develop a treatment plan and estimated cost for your implant overdenture.
Will Dental Insurance Cover Implant Overdentures?

Although dental insurance will not cover the entire cost of implant overdentures, your dental plan may offer some benefits. Some plans do not offer any coverage. The dental implant process includes multiple procedures and dental codes. Your insurance may provide benefits for specific aspects of the implant process.
For example, for the dental code, D6010 – Surgical Placement of Implant Body: Endosteal Implant, the maximum allowable amount that a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) dental plan covers may be:
- Fifty percent for services provided by an in-network doctor
- Forty percent for services provided by an out-of-network doctor
Still, each dental plan varies, and you may not have a PPO plan. Check your dental plan summary for details. You can also ask the administrative staff at your dentist’s office to submit a pretreatment estimate.
Other factors to consider:
- Financing – Many dental offices offer low-interest financing or payment plans to help you pay for implant overdentures.
- Health Care Credit Cards – You may qualify for a low- or no-interest health care credit card to help you pay for care over time.

Schedule consultations with at least two dentists to discuss your options. Eventually, you will need an exam and 3-D CT scan to determine whether you have enough bone volume for implants if you need bone grafting, and how many implants you want or need.
